SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing/Process Engineer develops and implements safe, optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.  Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, controls and equipment, and coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
  • Improves and develops manufacturing processes and equipment by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, conferring with equipment vendors and production associates.
  • Participates and lead teams to achieve established business objectives by driving Continuous Improvement, improve quality performance, eliminate process waste, improve process efficiency and increase the skills and engagement of all employees. Achieved by frequent use of lean manufacturing tools, including but not limited to: 5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, SPC, SMED, etc.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, ergonomics, methods, equipment and plant layout.
  • Leads and assists in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
  • Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Estimate production times, capacities, staffing requirements, and related costs and provide information and recommendations for management decisions.
  • Work cross functionally with company staff and vendors, regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, process development, manufacturing capabilities, and project management.
  • Researches, identifies, proposes and implements new manufacturing technology including automation, controls, robotics, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or related field
  • 5 years manufacturing or process engineering experience in manufacturing (preferably in a CNC environment)
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies
  • CAD Proficiency, SolidWorks preferred
  • Project management experience
  • Machine design experience preferred

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Sit [50%], Stand [50%], Lift [up to 50lbs], Walk, Bend, Stoop, Reach, Push, & Pull, as well as Finger/Hand dexterity.
